Five Common Carpet Cleaning Myths

Carpet Cleaning Myths

Since the early 1970’s, CleneStart has been heavily involved in the flooring industry. Our many

years of experience, combined with our commitment to continually research floor cleaning

techniques are what makes us one of the preferred carpet cleaning services in the metro

Atlanta area. During our time in the business we have heard every myth and misconception

there is about carpet cleaning. Below are a few that we at CleneStart would like to make our

customers aware of:

1) Cleaning my carpets will cause them to get dirty faster!

If you get your carpets cleaned improperly, this can be true. Since some methods leave behind

sticky residue and soap-based cleaning agents, these agents then attract more dirt later.

However, our low moisture encapsulation extraction method leaves behind no soil attracting

residue. Our cleaning method has been proven to be beneficial to the life of your carpet by

removing soil and leaving your floors cleaner for longer.

2) Carpet cleaning will cause mold or mildew to grow in my carpet!

Again, this could be true but ONLY if your carpet is not cleaned properly. Soaked carpets are

caused by too much water or cleaning solution being applied to the carpet and not being

properly extracted afterwards. When carpet sits wet for too long 770-887-6375 hours) there is a

chance for mold growth. This is why it is so important to choose a carpet cleaning professional

with a proven record that you can trust. CleneStart uses a low moisture encapsulation

extraction method that typically dries within 2-3 hours.

3) Baking soda or other powder deodorizers will remove the smell from my carpet!

We hear and see this one often. Unfortunately, it’s one of those old tales that get passed down

to each generation and is simply not true. Powders only mask the odors with fragrance that

often leaves chemicals in your carpet. Baking soda can absorb some of the odors, which is

great, but it does not remove the source of the odor! The best way to deal with odors is to

remove the source.

4) My carpet isn’t that old, it doesn’t need to be cleaned!

Many people consider their carpet to be new when, in fact, it is already several years old.

Carpet is designed to hide soils, so even if it looks “clean,” it’s not. In fact, by the time the dirt is

visible, most of the damage has already occurred. Leaving soil in your carpet will wear down the

carpet fibers leaving it with a much shorter lifespan than usual. Generally speaking, you should

get your carpeting cleaned every 6 and 12 months. You should go no longer than 18 months

without a professional cleaning.

5) I can use any grocery store cleaner to remove a stain!

Sometimes this can be true & sometimes it can be disastrous to your carpet! Many of the big

brand name carpet spotters leave residue behind that can attract more dirt later. To be on the

safe side, call on CleneStart to order our kid & pet safe CleaneR. Our CleaneR is an industry and

customer favorite that offers fast and effective stain removal without the use of harsh

chemicals. Our product is completely kid and pet safe.

In short, your floors are a vital areas where your family works, plays and lives. Keeping them

clean is our business. Call on CleneStart today to learn more about our services! 770-887-6375
